Held by the Hand of Fatima…

©JeanneMarieArt 2026 - 16” x 20” Acrylic painting on paper - SOLD

I wanted to spend a bit of time updating my blog because I kind of dropped off just before my auction and I have been a little MIA since summer hit.

I worked slowly through this piece and she took her time to appear and here is a bit about her…

She stands beneath a gesture older than language - a hand that blesses, shields and remembers.

She is woman, nature and memory entwined and stands quietly protected and completely sovereign.

The title has two meanings of Fátima, the protective Hamsa hand and the maternal presence of Mary so deeply rooted in these parts. Inspired from my trip to Fatima to witness the Miracle of Fatima celebration last October.

Just before my show my Italian paints started running out and my big tubs, drying out and I was starting to panic a bit. I have used this range for years and they are my signature color palette. I could source them in Cape Town but I have been unable to source them here. I was lucky enough to pop into Zecchi Colori Belle Arti shop when I was in Florence and got to restock my main supplies. This means I am finally ready to head back into studio and I’ll be sharing as I go…

My studio slate is clear and I am feeling ignited.

More soon. xxx
